Cleveland's Annual Festivals

Among the many things to do in Cleveland, the unique festivals that are held annually celebrate the diversity of the city and its residents. These original celebrations cover everything from old world living to effluent treatment chemical production! Let's explore a few of the most outstanding festivals that occur each year.

Cleveland Ingenuity Festival showcases art in many forms that are out of the box to say the least. Each year, well over 35,000 people flock to Cleveland's Ingenuity Festival which is defined by its organizers as a showcase of art and technology in all its many forms. From paintings to poetry, music to murals, the Cleveland Ingenuity Festival has got something for everyone to enjoy. For one short weekend in July, the streets and alleys of the Theater District are lined with more than 200 exhibits. A variety of games and informational booths provide lots of laughs and even a little bit of learning. Be sure to stop by the acrobatic slings manufacturer booth to learn about the art of the high fliers, or simply stare at the ingenious sculptures for hours on end.

The annual Lorain International Festival offers food and music from around the globe, and 2009 marks its 43rd year. For those that have the desire to travel the globe to enjoy the smells and tastes of different cultures, this is the place for you! With vendors and chefs from around the globe, there are dozens of different tastes to enjoy at the Lorain Festival. You will not need to hop a plane, train or a bus to experience the delicious food, arts, music and culture of many different countries. More than 40 food booths are on site ready to dish up delicious and different ethnic treats.

Some booths will offer authentic crafts and cultural items that are not found elsewhere and are directly from the vendor's places of heritage. From intricate Indian afghans to awe-inspiring Native American dream-catchers, and delicate Tibetan prayer books to ancient Scottish designs made with metal slitters, there is sure to be a trinket or gift you'll want to take home and keep in the family for years to come.

And our last festival, the popular Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival rolls out a whole lot of fun! Sure, many American handymen and women love duct tape as much as they loves the latest trends in PCB designers circles, but this sector of people are not the only ones who enjoy this multi-purpose tool. At the fun and festive Avon Heritage Annual Duct Tape Festival, folks from all around get together to share in the glory of this fix-anything product that has had an impact on their lives in many different ways.

Enormous parade floats, art masterpieces, and even clothing and costumes are created by city residents with nothing other than dozens of different colors of, you guessed it, duct tape! The sticky creations are entered into various contests to win prizes of all kinds, from money to trophies. The festival, which is put on annually by the city of Avon, Henkel Adhesives and other local businesses and includes catering, Toronto Ontario to Toledo residents have been traveling to this festival since 2004 and it includes a variety of events, all kinds of good eating, entertainment and a whole array of duct-tape-themed contests as well as activities. There are also midway rides for the kids to enjoy, and certainly this silly day is one that will be enjoyed by the whole family.

Certainly there is a festival in this city for every traveler or resident. The very best thing about Cleveland's festivals is that they are all 100% free of admission charge!
