Cleveland is served by the Cleveland Municipal School District, which is the largest K-12 district in Ohio, with 127 schools and 69,500 students. This is the only district in Ohio that is under control of the mayor, who appoints a school board.
Cleveland also has many colleges and universities, including the Case Western Reserve University, which is ranked 38th in America and has several top-ranked graduate programs, the Cleveland Institute of Art, the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, and the Cleveland Sate University.
