Part of the theme song to the former hit sitcom The Drew Carey Show on ABC went, 'Cleveland Rocks! Cleveland Rocks! Ohio!' And with it being home to the Rock and Roll Hall of fame, how could it not rock? There are a lot of reasons why the city of Cleveland rocks. But a lot of what makes Cleveland such a lovely destination wouldn't be possible without the local city officials who make sure that Cleveland is a great place to live. These same officials also put all their efforts possible into making Cleveland a safe environment for home owners. There's a reason why you don't see a septic tank pump truck disposal site near your home.
The mission statement in regards to public services makes it quite clear that the city of Cleveland has a protocol that they want to follow. Their mission statement states that the Department of Public Service is, 'to provide safe, prompt, cost effective, high quality service delivery to City of Cleveland citizens, employees, businesses, and visitors in the areas of waste collection, street maintenance and repair, facility management, and fleet management.' And how do they do this? Well, stop cleaning out the baskets of your duplex strainers, take a seat and we'll tell you what the city of Cleveland does to make your home and city safer.
One very simple way is the maintenance of sidewalks. The Bureau of Sidewalks has a variety of programs that they run or take part in that make sure all city sidewalks are properly looked at and taken care of year round. You don't want to be worrying about whether or not you're going to trip over some damaged sidewalk paving when walking to the curb to pick up your mail. One program that the Bureau of Sidewalks runs to eliminate any potential safety violations is the '50/50 Sidewalk Hazardous Program.' This is an optional program for home owners that sees the city pay for half of all sidewalk expenses that arise due to damaged sidewalks. It's a program designed to encourage homeowners to partake in helping to repair unsafe sidewalks in their area. You might not want to pay the money at first but it truly is something that could be of great benefit to you in the long run. Just think of how nice it is to jog on a smooth sidewalk and not worry about tripping on it any longer.
In addition to things such as street cleaning, snow removal, and safe sewage disposal, Cleveland also runs a program that removes graffiti from buildings. Worrying about hoodlums messing up your garage or the back wall of your house or condominium with graffiti is a thing of the past with this program. By enforcing the city's anti-graffiti ordinance, the city of Cleveland is removing the negative aspects and side effects that come with seeing a building vandalized by graffiti. It may not be something you think of when it comes to events or programs the city runs to make your house a safer place but it sure is a valuable program.
As you can see, the city of Cleveland rocks in a lot of ways. When the city officials and department heads aren't busy determining what's the best protein skimmer to use in eliminating organic compounds in the water, they're off enjoying the finer aspects of the city, and we invite you to do the same. Your house is as safe as possible. So, stop worrying about whether or not the garbage man will take that extra bag you placed on the curb or whether or not your hospital has the proper x-ray shielding and go out and enjoy an Indians ballgame. You'll have a lot more fun.
